“Develop a passion for learning.  If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

Anthony J. D’Angelo

Ideally situated for families in the Laveen, Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Avondale, Goodyear, and Tolleson areas, the campus is located at 4275 W. Baseline Road Laveen, AZ 85339 and open enrollment will take place from January 19-28, 2016.  Dedicated to youth, their growth and development, Heritage Academy teaches the mastery of primary and secondary skills in the fields of history, math, writing, literature, reading, science, music, foreign language, visual art, performing arts, and physical development.  By offering a variety of programs such as history tours, a performing arts retreat, basketball, soccer and more, Heritage Academy strives to meet the needs of families in the Southwest Valley.

The 7th-12th grade model allows scholars to interact with upper classmen, while benefiting from small class sizes.  The scholars not only learn, but have the time during class to share their ideas with each other and their teachers.  This format also allows the teachers to really get to know their students and help them succeed.  This structure also allows our scholars to participate in more sports and school functions.

While a scholar is defined as: “an intelligent and well-educated person:  a learned person”, a student is defined as: “a person who attends a school, college, or university: a person who studies something.”  A person is typically considered to be a student until they leave school, whereas a scholar can forever be considered as a scholar, a learned person.

Heritage Academy did not casually decide to use scholar instead of student.  They believe that it is important to teach children not only academics, but citizenship and lifelong learning skills as well.  By offering small class sizes, the scholars not only learn, but have the time during class to share their ideas with each other and their teachers.  By encouraging class participation and open discussion, Heritage Academy is teaching scholars how to have diverse conversations.  A skill they will be able to take with them into their adult lives.

Heritage Academy Vice Principal and Athletic Director, Kyle Leybas, reports that the boys varsity basketball team is looking to make another deep run in the playoffs this year.  Last year they made it to the semi-finals and hope to make it even further this year.  Girls varsity basketball is also in full swing. He also states “our junior high softball team is looking to make a trip back to the state finals.  All game dates and times can be found on the Laveen Campus Calendar.

Open enrollment is from January 19-28, 2016.  Heritage Academy invites interested families to call the office to schedule a tour of the campus and speak with teachers, staff and scholars about Heritage’s unique curriculum and educational opportunities.  You may bring a completed application to the school located at 4275 W. Baseline Road Laveen, AZ 85339.  Go to www.HeritageAcademyAZ.com & click “Apply” to download all the necessary forms.  If you have questions, you can reach us at laveeninfo@heritageacademyaz.com or call (602) 290-8546.
